Authentic References from Scriptures
Sage Atri and Anasuya performed severe penance. The Trimurti granted a boon. Anasuya gave birth to three sons who merged into one divine child – Lord Dattatreya (Vishnu portion). He tested disciples by living in worldly pleasures; only true devotees remained, proving his state beyond maya.
Dattatreya taught King Yadu through 24 natural Gurus (Earth=patience, Wind=detachment, Sky=purity, Water=service, Fire=knowledge, Moon=unchanging soul... up to Wasp=transformation). "The Self alone is my Guru, yet I learned from these 24."
Describes Dattatreya as Vishnu-form protector of devotees and restorer of Vedic knowledge.
"Om Salutations to Dattatreya – Supreme Brahman in human form." Avadhuta Gita: "I am the Self, all-pervasive... There is no you and I. All is One."
